After a series of extensive and thorough negotiations with German shipyard Nordic Yards, API Marine secured an important contract for delivery of Cargo Monitoring and Level Indication System for Arctic Tanker – project “Nordic AT 19”.

The special ice-breaker tanker was ordered by MMC Norilsk Nickel – Russia’s largest mining and metal producing company and world leader in nickel and palladium production. The tanker will be able to break through ice thickness of 1.5 meter and will be transporting fuel, lubricants and gas condensate in the Far North territories of Russia.

Designed to operate in harsh Arctic weather conditions, where temperature reaches down to -50 C, the vessel will carry API Marine technology onboard, which has already proven to work efficiently and reliably in the Arctic region.

The tanker will comply with two classification societies – Russian Maritime Register of Shipping and Det Norske Veritas and is scheduled for delivery in September 2011.
