The Lauritzen Kosan new building “Isabella Kosan”, first ship in a series of twelve new fully refrigerated gas carriers, has won the prestigious Lloyd’s List award “Ship of the Year” at the Lloyd’s List London Awards 2008. This new series presently under construction at Sekwang Heavy Industries, Korea will give Lauritzen Kosan a new platform on the world market for the transportation of LPG and other gases, including ethylene. Each of the new vessels is able to carry up to 8,000 cbm of cargo and will be the biggest ever in the fleet.
The committee nominating Isabella Kosan as “Ship of the Year” especially pointed out the various new elements of design, innovation and environmental safety resulting in efficient operation.
